Trewax
« on: March 13, 2009, 01:13:39 AM »
Does anyone use a product called Trewax as a finish or part of a finish on their guns?  The threads on finishes got me to thinking about it.  I have used it on carving, not guns with success but they do not have the kind of outdoor service that a gun does.

Yes, I had some and used it but lost it about five years ago.  It finally turned up in my friend's shop.  He used it and said he liked it so well that he was keeping it.  We used it to rub out the final finish, a wax coat.  He has built about 400 ML firearms by now, so his endorsement of it is meaningful.

Thanks, I appreciate the response.  I always thought it did a nice job for my carvings and it says it is good for floors so it must be durable.  I just did not know if it was good for outside applications.

I wonder how it would work on the metal?
