Now that is a nice rifle. You guys are doing some great research, exposing that corner of the world, keep it up. You got to love that rifle and admire the shape it is in. That is some top of the line work, some really neat engraving. Also need to mention that is some great photography work.

Mr. Glaze was certainly an accomplished gunmaker. Beautiful work putting it all together and thank you for brining this.

You are all welcome, we figured you would like em. But the big thanks goes to the caretakers of these guns. These came from four collections. Real nice that they chose to share them. Glaze was one heck of an artist.

Thanks for posting these fine pieces! Anyone of them is a 'one-gun' collection. Now I am wondering, many years ago, a superfine half stocked heavy barreled KY Rifle was on the market, (hefty gun, hefty price) and it was loaded with many finely made silver inlays.
A plaque in the barrel seemed to carry the name 'GLAVE' which signified nothing as no maker with that name could be found. On reconsideration, the name was most likely 'GLAZE.' Certainly that mysterious gun could easily have come from that shop based on the quality of workmanship and ornamentation. Wonder where it is today?

The lock on the first one is certainly unusual, and I wonder if it wasn't made for someone with a handicap of some sort?

The same thought had crossed my mind as well.
Building a lock of this style makes a much stronger build than a (normal) rifle.
Perhaps he was just experimenting with that idea. I'm afraid we'll never know for sure. I'll get AVLRC to post a close up here of just the lock.

Fascinating rifle lock. Last month's Muzzle Blasts had an over/under gun with
flintlocks modified to external mainsprings.Seems like a season for odd locks.

The workmanship on these rifles.amazes me. How they did everything with simple hand tools. No electricity , poor lighting etc. Brings a very strong meaning to the word Master Gunbuilder. Thank you very much for posting.

Glaze was an outstanding maker. I had the pleasure of looking at the half stocked rifle first hand and it is indeed a well done rifle. Thanks for posting this.
