Finishing Question

I am planning on finishing a rifle with Chambers oil and was wondering if I should use the oil by itself or apply the oil after sealing the stock with Laurel Mountain sealer. My only concern with using the sealant first is that the Chambers oil will sit on the sealant and not penetrate the wood.

I've done it both ways...... It will work fine.  Lately, I've just stuck with Chambers....... It's just so easy.

For extreme durability, I use Chambers to seal, (one or two coats), a good coat or two of spar varnish, Chambers to the sheen I like.   (I don't like shiny guns)

When I used to use Chambers finish I'd just use it with no sealer and no other kind of top coat. Usually 4 to 6 coats will do it, the first being real heavy untill it quits soaking up the finish.
