tow worm recommendations
« on: November 05, 2015, 04:52:55 PM »
A recent post has sparked an interest in trying my hand at cleaning with tow and worm. I have a tow worm/ball puller combo, but it is not a good one. The twisted prongs of the worm portion have a cross section that is flat and thin. It looks weak and prone to bending in use. What I am looking for is one with prongs that have a cross section that is round and tapered. I need it for a 20 gauge fowler. Can anyone here offer suggestions on where to find one as described and maybe some pictures?

                                                                                              Thanks, Bill

...So does Jim Webb.  This one is for my .40 cal Kuntz rifle.  He'll make it whatever length you like, within reason.

...and this one is for Voluptuous Virginia....50 cal.

I had one made for me by Rich McDonald for my 20ga smoothbores and I love it and highly recommend his tow worms.  His website is under Longknives and Leather, I think...there are pics there.  I like his best for larger bore smoothbore guns.

Rich McDonald made me 4 tow worms that will clean anything from 32 caliber to 62 caliber.  Highly recommend his tow worms.
