White Lightning liner install
« on: December 06, 2015, 03:59:54 PM »
Not a builder having only put a few kits together. So I thought I better bounce it off the experts. In the near future I'll be installing a Cambers liner in a Rice .40 Cal. Awt. I wanted to make sure there is no problem with the liner extending into the bore and causing problems with the cleaning jag getting past to the plug face later. I encountered this problem before on a gun built by someone else. Unfortunately I no longer have the gun and don't recall the specifics. But it seems to be something to look out for on liner installs on the thinner walled barrels.
Any problems to head off with a liner install on a .40 cal. Rice Awt. ? For a non-builder like myself it seems it's only after the install hub breaks off, where it's to late to easily remove, and that you find a Chambers liner projects into the bore??????? Also didn't want too remove to much of the bore side of the liner and cause a safety problem or affect the inner cone too much.

Install your liner. Then remove your Breech Plug and remove however much of your liner is extending into the Barrel.

Thanks, but was trying to avoid breech plug removal as it will have a long extended tang (Southern Mt.)

I do not know the dimensions of that specific barrel, but I will say that the advise you got from P. Bingham is the best idea.  What I would do is install the liner and check it with a cleaning patch.  If it does not cause a problem, you are good to go.

Removing the breechplug is the right way to do it.
Doesn't really matter what type of plug it is, you remove it the same way.
