Barrel question
« on: January 17, 2016, 06:54:25 AM »
I have the need for a 13/16" .45 cal barrel with a length of about 36" in length. I have a new (still in the shipping tube) H&H .45 cal barrel that is 13/16" but is 42" long. Back when I bought it these barrels were very high quality. My question is: Should I cut the barrel to the length I need and re-crown it or sell it and buy a new one the right length?

It depends, if you have no need or plans to ever use that barrel in its current configuration, and have the capability to cut it, go for it.  Otherwise either save it and buy another, or just try to sell it.  It's not like there is a shortage on barrels like that unless someone has to have a H&H barrel

Thread like this a sort time ago.

Using a tight patch pushed through the barrel, determine if the barrel is tighter at one end than the other. If so, cut the loose end, leaving the choke at the muzzle end. This will improve accuracy.
