Sheet Silver Gauge?

What gauge of sheet sterling silver works best for inlaying a cheekpiece?
Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

I agree with Mark, 20 gauge works well. When you buy it make sure to get it dead soft, it will be easier to work with. Like brass silver will work harden and need to be anealed but for simple inlays this will work well without anealing.

Many years ago I bought a large sheet of sterling silver that miked .064 and have used it for many cheek piece stars and still have a lot of the sheet left. This thickness works well for a star in that the corners don't protrude as w/ thinner stock and a lot remains after filing down the profile. This thicker silver enables 1 center screw to be used.....Fred
