Hi,

I have a rifle my father just gave me and it has only one marking on it (E.Loomis). I am looking for any information about this gun.

Here is a link/URL to photos https://flic.kr/s/aHsjzoskrP

Thanks,
Cal

Earl Lewis, South Hamilton , New York. Golchester NY 1823-1860 Hubbardsville, NY 1860 & E Lewis  Mt Morris New York 1870. Found this in Summers book. You might want to find someone who  has those New York books for more info.

Cal:  Per "New York State Firearms Trade" (Swinney & Rowe) Earl Loomis was born May 18, 1798 and died May 26, 1872. Apparently he was a prolific gun maker in East Hamilton, NY ("Loomis's Corners").
There is an example of an E. Loomis marked 1/2 stock rifle illustrated that is almost identical to yours. (same patchbox, running fox on the cheekpiece, acorns on the wrist, identical nose cap, and tang sight).
