Just wanted to post a few photos of the wonderful (at least I think its wonderful) tomahawk that I received today.

A fine example by master maker Wallace Gusler.  At least in my humble opinion.

I'd love to know what you think.

I have had the pleasure of handling two of Wallace's fine pipe hawks. These are truly works of art and I'm jealous of your fine fortune.

It's a treasure.  I would 0000 the bluing off.  I just like them better shiny or brown.  Reminds me of
the Merriweather Lewis hawk which is my all time favorite.

Wallace is one of the very best craftsmen. You are lucky to have one of his Hawks. Cherish it.

You gotta love Wallace's work, it's great, but I'm with Shreckmeister on this one, I don't care much for the bluing either.

It looks quite good in person, its a little hard to get the subtle color changes to photograph properly.  I was a little apprehensive about the heat blue at first, but I have certainly come to love it.  Something tells me that over time, it will age beautifully.  Besides, if I was to put the steel wool to it, how would you suggest that I explain that to Wallace?

You couldn't and I seriously doubt you could ever get another one from him :D

I think it's an incredible work of art and made by the top builder since the Mccleland-Butler pipe tomahawk. I wonder if fire bluing was used on some of the originals?

I've seen and handled a lot of original tomahawks and never seen any sign of one having been fired blued. Anything's possible, has anyone here seen an original that was blued? Not taking anything away from Wallace's work, it's a beautiful hawk and done by one of the best. Always trying to learn something new.
