I do not want to open a can of worms here, just want a question answered.
Is the L&R late English a good lock? I have heard they have upped quality.
They have put a lot of effort into making a better lock. Keep in mind they are
captive to the quality control of a foundry. The mainsprings are now all forged
and the now use 52-100 for the frizzens which is an impact resistant steel that
ball bearings are made from.I have made a number of locks using the external parts from L&R
for the Durs Egg,Manton and Ashmore and no problems reported about the frizzens.
