Tin-Cloth Formula Needed

Does anyone have a good workable formula/recipe for making and applying tin-cloth? Thanks, Jerry

Equal parts beeswax and BLO. Heat just enough to melt together. You can thin it with turps. Brush it on to saturate, hang to dry--might take 2-3 days.

One other tip...after brushing it on I hit it with a heat gun on the lighter setting. Blow dryer would do too. Soaks in the fabric more and dries faster.

I still have my dad's Filson tin hat that he got in about 1950 to replace the one he lost that he got in 1939. It'll still keep your head dry. Not pretty, mind you, just works.
