Lemuel Lyman pouch

Was the original Lemuel Lyman pouch used as a ball bag or shooting pouch for all needed shooting supplies? I think the original dimensions were something like 7" x 5".  If I make a pouch like this for my shooting supplies would I be better installing shoulder straps or keep it as I believe the original  as a belt pouch. ??? ???  Thanks

Use the search button and you'll find several discussions on this pouch. Original was worn on the belt, probably carrying ball, shot, maybe some tow for wadding. Certainly not a hunting pouch. This particular one had a military background, although civilians used them too. I have one I use with my Type G. Ball, tow and a small screwdriver is what it contains. Sometimes shot.
