Double Screw-Tip Horn # 2
« on: April 17, 2016, 11:41:23 PM »
This one is similar to the one I posted on the 12th. The difference is the horn itself, more twist and curve and the coloring. It is about 14" around the outside curve. The Walnut base is about 2 1/2" and is hollowed out to about an inch and a half to 3/4s the depth, it is held by 4 nails. The two part horn tip and collar are threaded 5/8-11 as is the horn. Again there is a slight flare at the point where the tip fits the neck. Color is from some Brown dye that it was boiled in and Brown shoe polish.

As always Tim, I like your work. Nicely done. Looks like you've found a new style that intrigues you. I've seen some of this style but never in person. Interesting. Not quite sure why it was done except because it could be.

Nothing beats the feel of a handmade southern iron mounted flintlock on a cold frosty morning
