cleaning jag/patent t/c breech problem
« on: May 02, 2016, 04:00:55 AM »
I am working on spare bbl for my T/C Seneca rifle.  The bbl is 13/16 40 cal. and the breech plug is an after market T/C Seneca patent breech.  The problem is when I ran 1/4" SS cleaning rod with a 40 cal. button jag down the bbl the jag got stuck in the breech, and I had to unbreech the bbl to get the rod out.  Has any one had this problem and does any one have a solution?   Thanks    Phil

Assuming there is a patch on the jag I have run in to run into this several times. More than once with a Traditions factory rifle, Threaded shank on the breach plug was short of the seat in the barrel the patch bunches up in the gap. Once on a T.C. 32, the cavity in the breach plug was way large for the small bore same results. I don't recall if this was a factory barrel.

I have run into this 3 times on factory TCs. Due to the extreme tightness of the breech plug, rather than unbreeching, I put a small amount of priming powder behind the jag, and shoot it out.
