Davis trigger in skinny rifle
« on: May 28, 2016, 06:06:17 AM »
I got my Davis trigger on my Tennessee mountain rifle.  The rifle is skinny through the lock area with not much depth for trigger installation, but I have done this before.  This time, however, no matter what I did, I could not get the spring tight enough to fire the lock, without it being too tight to cock the lock with the trigger unset.  I cut the blades down and everything I could think of.  Finally, I found a .440 gun screw and put it in the trigger plate as a spring stop screw like the L&R has.  It now works properly.  I have enough preload on the trigger mainspring to send the back blade upward with plenty of force to fire the lock, but the spring itself stops short and the momentum of the trigger does the trick.  The lock cocks fine unset now.  Aint I a smart old geezer. ;D

I know.  Everyone but me knew this already.
Quality, schedule, price; Pick any two.

A picture or two would help.  I have a feeling I will have the same problem on my Gillespie.
