pistol metal finish.

Probably been asked many times but would a left in white finish be PC for a pistol I am finishing. Would the barrel have been finished and the lock left in the white? It is a generic flintlock maybe built around the Revolution era.

Bob,

I can't comment on the historical correctness but I built a pair f Dragoon pistols a while back and left both the locks and the barrels bright.  I am waiting for them to take on their own patina.....

Hi Bob,
The barrel and lock probably would have been polished and left in the white.
