« on: June 17, 2016, 03:33:41 AM »
this is a pistol I built several months ago thought you might like to see it
its a Charles burton 12 inch swamped 50 cal barrel ,jim chambers small siler, akers single set trigger
I personally like the color of the stock
it even shoots pretty good for a right handed left eyed shooter

That's a great looking pistol. I like the color of the stock, too. What was the finish you used?

kc.
the finish was danglers orange followed by dangler red sealed with tru-oul ive built other guns with this finish and they are all different colors
this was sugar maple, a red maple stock seems to be darker

Paul,

Sorry, I haven't been on much this past month and just saw your pistol!  Looks like you did a great job with it.  Did you engrave the lock yourself?

Very nice ;). Is the stock from a plank or a pre-carve? The reason I ask is that I have built two pistols about 15 years ago and tried to shape them out of a plank and they look like a "plank" when done (well not quite). I want to get a pre-carve to try another pistol to get the hang of the correct starting shape.
