J.P.Beck trigger question
« on: August 01, 2016, 04:39:19 AM »
I think I remember seeing a photo of a Beck rifle with set triggers, but Have looked through my books and the Lebanon Co. gallery here, and cannot seem to locate it. Can anyone refresh my memory as to where I saw it ? Thank you, Roland

I cannot say I've ever seen an original Beck with a double set trigger, but there are lots of contemporary "Becks" with them, including one which I own and love shooting.

Thank You Taylor, I may have been thinking of RCA #100, which has a decorative curled trigger instead of his usual plain one. Very nice rifle you have there.  Roland

I built this rifle custom for Leatherbelly, but he put it up for sale in a weak moment, and I was lucky enough to get her back.

Hey Taylor,  I have only ever seen one JP Beck original rifle with set triggers, and it's a wowser!  I do believe I wrote an article that featured it and an 1803 Dickert rifle some time ago for Muzzleloader magazine.  Perhaps that's where you saw photos.  Why don't you contact Jason Gatliffe the present owner, editor of the mag for a copy.  Great Beck, by the way.  The original has a "whale's tail" finial on the patch box.  Regards,   Peter A.
