Update on GRRWs Greg Roberts
« on: August 30, 2016, 07:06:42 PM »
I thought I would give and update on Greg. I met him in a nursing home as before. He is home. I found where he
lives and paid a visit. Met his wife today. Had a great time. His health is not good , but happy to visit.
He spoke of a man he called Blue Jacket. Highly spoke of him. They showed me some of his past beadwork.  Beautiful.
I do not know who wrote him , but he got a letter and was very excited to get it. A gracious man.

I suspect he was referring to Blue Jacket Sanders
If I remember correctly he was from Danville Illinois
Met him at Rendezvous many years ago

My little deaf daughter used to go with me
Blue Jackets wife knew sign language and made my daughter welcome in camp
My daughter turned 52 this summer; so you can tell it was a long time ago
Their lodge was always the best trimmed out in camp.  He was an excellent rifle builder as well as talented artist. If I am remembering a different person, please feel free to correct me

Blue Jacket Sanders' Christian name was Phillip. He was from Danville and was AMM in the early 1970s. I think he moved to Utah and worked at GRRW.
kind regards, heinz

Danial & anyone else who maybe interested go to whitemuzzleloading.com and search for GRRW . there are many pictures that will put faces to names mentioned in this thread.                                                                                                                                                                              Bill

Sorry to hear of Greg's plight.  He and I were pretty friendly back in 75-76.  He tried to get me to come to work at GRRW.  I bought several barrels from him.
I think I heard that Bluejacket passed away a while back..  It has been 5 or 6 years at least since I last saw him..  At the time, he was living in Western Montana and had recently been on a Buffalo Hunt with Sharps rifles.
My old brain just can't remember everything...

Daniel, I believe WindriverBob, aka Bob Allen, sent him back issues of the Green River Gazette.  Maybe Greg was referring to them.  The Gazette is a newsletter for the Green River Rifle Works Collectors Association with articles about the old guns and the people that used to work with Greg.

You know this ole guy is very talented. I wish his health would allow him to do things he misses badly.

Hi,
My name is Ron Paull. I was a builder for GRRW and Greg was a man I call friend. I would very much appreciate his contact information or for you to give him mine. I don't care that people will see my information;
mailing address: P.O. Box 29, Port Lions, AK. 99550
home phone: 907-454-2261, I'm not all that good about answering that phone and it may be going away in a few months.
I am good about checking my email regularly: fastoldpastor@yahoo.com
Would sure love to hear from Greg or be able to write or call him.
Thanks
Ron

Thanks Ron I was going to say the same thing as all the guys at Green River Rifle Works Collectors Association [GRRW.CA] would like to contact Greg. You being in our group that helped form this project of building guns once again with former employees of GRRW.

We at GRRW.CA have a new website address, now under construction (but a start) at: http://grrwca.wixsite.com/grrw-ca  I'm rebuilding the old website that keeps dropping information, that's madding .....

We have heard all kinds of issues with Mr. Roberts health, sorry to hear some have been correct. I haven't seen or talked to him for 35 years, times flies when you as old as Herb.  ::)

Hey Buck,
Wondered what had happened to you.  It's been at least 20 years since I saw you.
