Old Pistol project

I had a good customer contact me a few years back. He asked me to build this pistol for him. He only had a few pictures to go by. I really don`t know much about it, whether it was copied from an original or not. I made the lock from a plate of brass and Siler internals , the Bedford like hammer , was fun!. I DO NOT like the architecture  of the wrist AT ALL, but that is what he wanted. I don`t think it was a terrible attempt , working from just a few pics. I realize that this WON`T be every one`s cup of tea, including me, but I found these old pics and just wanted to show them. It does however illustrate my point , that if you develop a systematic approach to gunbuilding , you can make about anything you or a customer may want.   Nate

That's certainly one of the most interesting pistols I've seen.  That grip angle strikes me as one that would cause you to shoot low, but I may be mistaken.  Love the colour of the wood, and the brass plate.  Nice work too, on the hammer...does it have a cup or is it flat?

Certainly unique, Nate. How does it feel in the hand. Seems a straight wrist (no wrist lock- ie: straight striking fist) would have the barrel pointed straight ahead.

It really didn't feel as bad as it looks!  It has a .40 cal. rifled barrel . It actually shot pretty good.

That one takes a bit of getting used to but nice color and workmanship.
As to the grip,I think it would be easy to handle----by the barrel

Bob, You definitely have a way with words " a bit of getting used to"  THAT`S HILLARIOUS !!! . I too thought that holding it by the barrel , it would make a decent "head knocker"  I will admit that the weird grip angle had me so concerned that, I epoxied a brass rod up through the grip , as far as possible . I just did it because the grain went straight through and, the stock is Cherry.    Nate
