Rifleman/Militiamans Knife

  Finished this one this morning. I have to admit I copied this one from one I saw elsewhere many months back. I was taken with the simplicity of the design, but yet it had a nice flow and pleased my eye. The blade was reported to have been excavated near Ft. Ticondaroga, from a grave if my memory serves. I don't know if the original blade had a guard, but it seems to fit in well with the knife, overall. 9 1/2" blade of 01 steel, steel guard and butt cap with a through tang peened over the butt cap. Octagon curly maple grip, and weighs in at only 7 1/2 oz. Hope you enjoy a look at it.

i like everyting about the knife except I don't own it. I think these knives are much prettier than those crude antler handle knives everyone is making. The knife here is a piece of Art- Pinyone the great

Very nice!  I love that blade shape!  I think I know what I'm going to do with that chunk of blade steel I squirrelled away 10 years ago.  I have a different handle design in mind, but the blade is perfect.  Thanks for the inspiration LRB!

Nice Job, wick. I have made a couple of knives very similar to this one of yours, but they didn't turn out as nice as this one.
