Straight and Cross pein hammer

[Pennsylvania Dutchman]

I needed a light straight and cross pein hammer for cold forging the trigger and other parts. I found an old brick layers hammer head in my junk so I did some cutting with my 4 1/2" angle grinder and finished it up on my disc sander. I was able to keep the temper in the head when I cut and finished it. I polished the ends with a blending wheel on my pedestal grinder. I made a handle from a piece of hickory I had. You can buy some sets of ball pein hammers at Harbor Freight pretty cheap and reshape them in many forms.  Several of us hobby blacksmiths have done this.
