New powder horn

The latest item to come off my bench is a new powder horn that I made for a friend of mine. Yes I do scrimshaw-- actually I studied under a master back in the 80's-- he was one of the "group of 10" out of Bellingham WA. Any way here is my latest project. the only tools used for the scrim were a sharp stylus and an exacto knife. The colors are painter's oil from Grumbacher. The scrim alone took over 300 hrs.
Hugh Toenjes P.S. The friend speaks German so the German saying translated is: "All skill is in vain if an angel wets in your touch hole"

Wpalongrifle, You have made my evening! with your observation about the "fallen" acorn. As an artist I try to incorporate some small item which is some what obscure but will invoke the observation of someone with discernment and inquisition. You obviously are of that ilk! Thanks for spotting it :

Blacksmoke, that is downright outstanding. I feel kinda lost, because it looks like all you guys are artist.
If wpalongrifle had not mentioned the fallen acorn, I would have missed it.
Great work.

Mike, Thanks for the good word. Believe it or not but most people are artistic-- they just don't know it. Set your mind to it and you will do it!

Now, I like that. Your friend has a good sence of humor.

Mike , If you are a flintlock shooter you will know the meaning of this German saying!?
Esp. if you shoot in a damp climate! Thanks again for your comments, Hugh Toenjes

Would you believe I have never shot a Flintlock.
I have wanted one for quite some time now. If the Lord is willing and the creek don't rise, I'm gonna have one.
I was doing a search on the board today, and I ran across your barrel in the for sale section. I am very interested in one. I'll be in contact with ya.
