Amazing feeling!
« on: December 31, 2016, 12:45:25 AM »
Many of you helped me along the way with my first build that started by accident...

I regret not taking it out during out firearms season...I don't NEED a modern rifle for my style of hunting...

Anyways...Thought you guys would like to know she got her first deer kill this Wednesday!

It was a very awesome and rewarding feeling knowing I put the gun together that did the job.

Season is going and I have 2 more doe tags and my buck tag... Hoping to fill the buck tag and maybe another doe tag.

Still planning the next build....

Thanx guys!

It's been a dream of mine to build my own rifle since I started shooting a flintlock....Now, I'm not only addicted to hunting with and shooting flintlocks...But now I have the build bug!

Soon as I find a house to setup shop I will be back at it!!

Probably going to start squirreling away parts here n there fairly soon....Takes the "sting" off of it lol.

D. Taylor, I typically take my own pics with a self timer and tripod for my phone....That is no exception..The picture turned out fine.  Not my ideal setting and deer was stiff as a board.

I cropped my head off to post the pic lol... Personal reasons I don't like my face plastered all over the net...

Mauser06 know exactly what you mean. Shot a nice buck this year.  I stopped at the local gas station. People were outside waiting to see it. My son put it on social media as we were heading home!!!

Another cool feeling...

Was at my buddies camp with a handful of good friends...The gun rack was lined with TCs and Lyman's...(we all bring a couple rifles).

Then there was mine.....And all the guys kept looking at it...Like little kids..I had to tell them it was alright to touch it haha.

Very nice, congrats on the deer AND the nice rifle you built.  But if you really wanna wow your buddies and stand out from a rack of TCs and Lymans, make your next build a full-stock longrifle....  ;D

Thanx guys!!!

Next one if gunna be a longrifle!   Leaning towards an Isaac Haines or a maybe an Edward Marshall. Already decided on 58cal. The build was "accidental" in that I planned to replicate a TC with aftermarket parts and a PR stock...I thought the PR stock was nearly ready to finish....Boy was I wrong lol.   Glad it happened though...I learned a lot.  And love the building process.

Today the rifle struck again!!!

Busted up...Right side was busted leaving about a 6" stump.  Left side had 4 points. The G2 was busted....I'm still thrilled...A buck in our late Flintlock season is hard to come by....

Awesome!  You're on a roll!  I've got a cherry stocked .58 cal longrifle I bought at CLA in '15 that I'll be trying to get a first deer with during Ohio's 4 day muzzleloader season starting Saturday... can't wait!
