Information on Kentucky Longrifle...
« on: July 18, 2008, 10:50:36 PM »
Hi all,

I am very new to this.  I have come across a nice longrifle that I need some opinions on.  I was told this was dated to 1810.  Can anyone give me any information on the school this is?  What would be a fair price for a gun of this age and condition.  In a couple of hours Tim is going to post the pictures of the gun for me. Any help you could provide a beginner would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks for everything Tim.

Your rifle is a nice example of the late flintlock period, probably dating to the 1830s, maybe later. Looks somewhat like an Upper Susquehannah River rifle or a little to the East of there
in the Reading area. Patchbox gives an appearance of a Lehigh gun, and it could be the case.
Is there a signature, or initials on the top barrel flat? Anywhere else? How long is the barrel?
Nice rifle and thank you for letting us have a look at it.
