ramrod pipes

Hi---looking for some ideas for ramrod pipes on a round barrel
        I don t want to fit a full length rib
        Looking for something small and neat
        Pictures and ideas welcome

So it sounds like you are building a half stock smoothbore?  Most of us on this site work off originals and do whatever it takes to replicate a close look of an original.  That's where I get my inspiration.

Of course another approach is, "these are the parts I have and I want to build a gun."  Whatever you decide you want it to work well, and so it does not hurt to look at originals.  If you could tell us more about your build plans and go parts you have, we could help more.

Hi--I decided to build something different
     I got a 50 cal round barrel from Taylor this week
     Building a rifle-takedown-short barrel
      Any ideas welcome

One option is to solder pipes directly to barrel. For the lug in the fore-arm, you could fashion a soldered on or dovetailed lug made from a big chunk of iron. Wide as the barrel flat and tall enough to drill a hole through it for the ramrod to pass through. Then the wedge key goes through below the ramrod hole in the lug. The old Sharon Trade Rifle kit has such a lug. If interested I will post a picture.
