Check out the David Dodd's rifle on TOW at $3999. Getz barell, Chambers lock , style. Raised carved. Very cool. I think you're going to wait a while to get a rifle like this  for the money. It's not a matter of stuff on the gun, but how it adds.
Also look at the Chris Immel rifle for $1999.  I don't think you're going to beat this one very often either. Nicely styled, carved.

Besides the fact that they are functional and can actually be used, some of these contemporary pieces are great investments and should be viewed in that context.  I will add that you either have to be patient and be willing to wait, sometimes for years, for your piece to be completed; a condition that many cannot reconcile themselves to or, you must be in a position to recognize and take advantage of a good deal when it presents itself.  It's only a matter of time before either of those two (2) pieces will be sold.

Chris' gun is the best deal I've seen in a long while.  Scratch-built custom, early, spot on and super clean.

I love Dodd's work too.
