What do you guys think about cast parts like nose caps and thimbles ? I don't think I care for the thick wall of the thimbles. I guess you can file them down but ? ? ? Al

I've made one rifle using cast thimbles and nose cap - from then on I have fabricated them. They are not hard to do, and making them is covered in the tutorial section.

I use both cast and "home made" RR pipes...depends on the LR style. Usually make the Mcap from .040 sheet brass. Early on made all the RR pipes and Mcaps but got lazy, I guess.\
The cast Mcaps can be thinned down on the inside w/ a Dremel....Fred

Personally I don't like the store bought one's. Really like making them. Besides if I'm going to cobble up a gun I make . Just might as well go all out..! Oldtravler

Pipes either or works for me. Muzzle caps are all sheet for me.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

I haven't bought either one for years. I either cast my own or make them from sheet. My cast ones are no thicker than the sheet ones. You can make them faster than they will get through the po.
