Original Tansel Powder Horn
« on: May 07, 2017, 10:19:16 PM »
Just showing this ended Gunbroker powder horn I ran across in my travels.

Not the best pictures but I have always enjoyed looking at old Tansel's. ;)

Thanks for the Pix. I would guess that at one time there was a turned tip on it. ???

Thanks for posting that.
I have looked a lot of photos of the Blackhawk commemorative horns and this one stands out.

It is funny on some of these supposed Tim Tansel hawk Blackhawk horns the horse head in profile will look very camel like. And very horsey on others. It makes one wonder if there was more than one hand making these.

TIM: I do think there was an applied tip on there at one time.

This is not the first time I have heard that thinking about other Tansels as well. TC

In the text provided by the seller he states that it appears to have had "a metal tip guard (usually made of copper)" at one time, but this was how he acquired it and he elected to leave it as he found it.

Thanks, did not see that but I doubt it was metal to start with, maybe a Metal replacement. I have never seen a Tansel with a metal tip but that doesn't mean much.
I was hoping maybe Shelby Gallien would comment on it.

  Again, Thanks, Tim C.
