« on: May 06, 2017, 04:36:36 AM »
Ontario Turkey
Shot at 35 Yards.
He is a big bird and I thought he was closer.
38 inch colerain turkey choke barrel.
90gr FFFG, and 1.5 oz of $5 shot

10.5 inch beard
One spur is 1.25 inches and the other was broken off.

My turkey season is done for another year.

Another beautiful bird. Success is one of those bad parts about hunting, when you have to quit until next year.   :)

Is that a 20 bore gun?

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

Is that a 20 bore gun?

Mike I can answer that question for you cause I have seen the gun up close an personal. Pat came down to Hotabama an hunted with me a couple yrs ago. Yes its a 20 ga. Its a Colerain 38 inch turkey choke barrel set in a beautiful piece of maple by John Bergmann. I hope im spelling his name right. I have seen the patterns it shoots an its a shooter. I not sure how many birds he has took with it but its starting to pile up. I thinks around 20

It isn't quite 20 birds. I think it is 17..
I had a couple of tough spring seasons.
Over the years.....
I missed one bird at 45 yards
Killed 2 at 42 yards
This one at 35 yards
Missed one at 27 yards??????
I like to keep it under 35 yards and even
better if it is under 30 yards.
But sometimes things get exciting and stuff happens!

Congrats on another one!  But if you've hit Kentucky and Ontario why is your season done?!?!  There are plenty of states in between with seasons still open!!   :D

Both Kentucky and Ontario have two bird limit.
Canadians are allowed 182 days in the USA per consecutive 12 month period. (6 months)
My time in Kentucky is done for the year.
I am on my way to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia to fly fish for speckled trout for the summer.
