So is it stocked in English walnut?  Lock is similar to L&R's copy of a Durs Egg lock but anyway is of post 1780 English styling.
Andover, Vermont

First thanks for the reply
In answer to your questions
I think it's American black walnut for the stock, the lock is marked inside with L R and a small letter f
The guy I bought it from said he had had it for 15 years that's all I know I'm trying to find out who made it and when??
It must have been made in USA and imported into the U.K. I guess

Hi Bob,
It is a modern-made gun from the late 20th century.  The lock looks like the Durs Egg lock commercially made by L&R lock company in the US.  It looks very well made.

Thanks Dave
Any ideas on how I might find out who made it, it's very finely made no un-necessary wood has been removed under the brass work and the lock is nicely inlet with crisp with well executed chequered stock and patch box.

Getting late here I'll look again in my morning but. Thanks for your help

Hi Bob,
There may be a name on the bottom of the barrel.  There also may be the barrel maker's stamp as well.  Common barrel makers in the US that stamp their work would include: Getz, Rice, Green Mountain, Colerain, Douglas, and Rayl,   There are others but those are the most common over the last 30 years.  Hopefully, the gun maker signed the work somewhere.  Give your post some time because someone here may eventually recognize the gun.  What is the significance of your title "D Boery 1771"?  Is that written on the gun somewhare?
