T.K. Dawson Hawken
« on: October 25, 2017, 02:04:50 AM »
Gentleman, as I am finishing my Hawken build up I have been studying one of my grandfathers rifles to get all the tiny details and nuances correct.  I thought some of you may enjoy the pictures.

That is a very nice looking rifle. I'd be proud of that one if it had come down to me from my grandpa.
I am the Lead Historian/Firearms Specialist at Rock Island Auction Co., but I am here out of my own personal interests in muzzle loading and history.

Gentleman, I believe there is some confusion about this rifle, if I worded it wrong I apologize. This rifle is not my build but my grandfathers. I was studying it for all the little details to finish mine up and as I was studying this I thought I would post some pictures to share with everyone. As far as my current Hawken build goes I will be shooting and sighting it in this weekend and then work on finishing it up. I will post pictures in the next week or so when it is finished.

I would wager a goodly sum and say your copy will be first class as was Tom's.

In the very best way, your grandfather's Hawken reminds me of one I held recently by John Bergmann in TN.  Could be by the same hand if I didn't know better.  Thank you for sharing.  God Bless,   Marc
