Looks to me like the bp probably did fit together in the apex at one time but is just worn / rusted through at the peak. Obviously was on another stock with patch box at some point. Very interesting. Restock of old parts by mountain gunsmith? What about the barrel loops? I havn't seen them like that. How were they done?
