glossy permyln finish
« on: December 22, 2017, 11:01:12 PM »
Suggestions for getting a glossy, varnish like finish with Permyln. I always hand rub it for an less glossy effect. When I have tried it in the past as directed using a saturated square of cloth,I had trouble with runs.
                  Thanks, Merry christmas

I've used permalyn before and just use a little fine pumice on a cloth with some linseed oil on it and rub it in circular motions over an area.  Wipe it off and see what u have and then do more if so desired.  Do smaller areas at a time and overlap.  I used chambers oil the last time and did the same thing.  I always use permalyn sealer first.

I have used Formby's Tung oil over Permalyn sealer with good results, tung oil is low gloss.

Have been using LMF sealer first and then Wahkon Bay Trucoat for the final application and have never gotten a shiny finish. In fact, have to rub w/ a fluffy bath towel to get some gloss......Fred
