I beat it in with a hammer and a punch. A claw hammer. It's not gold leaf it's about .010 thick. This cap is sterling silver. If it were steel then you could put gold leaf on it. You can't do that with sterling because , sterling is too soft for the teeth to hold up.

That is beautiful.  Obviously, the craftsmanship is masterful but the design is what really attracts me.  I all works together. I am anxious to see the whole gun.

This is a gun I'm engraving for a old customer. He is making the gun. The pattern is taken straight off of a gun in the Jim Chambers Jaeger book by request of the customer. I did alter it a tiny bit. The side plate and the barrel are the real good parts.  I will probably do the barrel.  I get to do my own art work on it. This gun might be on the show circuit next year. It will never be for sale.
   If it was it would probably sell for about $85,000.00

TOF.
  You can carve it out of wax or pearwood . Then make a silicone rubber mold of the carving.
With the silicone mold you can make wax duplicates. Then using the lost wax casting process, cast as many as you want.
  For the lost wax casting process it is best to buy your self a few books. It is called precision casting for a reason. It is a very precise process. Temperature sensitive and timed within a few seconds. It takes a while to learn it well.
