Round Barrel and Lock Placement
« on: December 20, 2017, 11:14:57 PM »
Just as the title says on a fully round barrel/ tapered/ but round from breech to muzzle.
If using a flint "lock" what does the lock sit against do you just file a small flat for the lock to pull up against when you snugg up the lock bolts .
will this also be enough for the pan to mate too "seal" and then just drill the touch hole?

Im not building anything yet but I saw a nice 28ga fowler a guy had with a 50" barrel that was really a shooter- fellow won most of the local smooth bore matches when he was still shootin.

It was a nice gun I looked down it but never shot it it was very light considering its length!

Iv'e wanted one every since.

Generally there is a flat filed on the barrel for the lock bolster to mate with.

3/8" wide and 2 1/2" long  make sure to get it 90 degrees to the top of the barrel
