Trigger pivot pin
« on: January 04, 2018, 01:47:08 AM »
To those who make their own single/simple triggers,. What material do you make the pivot pin out of?
I'm referring to a pin mounted in a trigger plate with pillers and not pinned thru the stock.
Do you prefer to thread one end of the pin so it screws into one of the pillers to retain it or do
Prefer to peen the ends of the pin? Thanks

I have just used music wire; the same material I use for all my  pins.    It is hardened and tempered.

Thanks Mark
What do you do for retention of the pin? Do you peen the ends of the pin, press fit it or thread one of the ends?

Just press fit like any other pin.   Make it long enough that if it works out, it will be stopped by either the sideplate or lock before it disengages from the trigger.

If you only want the pin through the pillars just use a center punch to slightly close the hole on one side. Tap the pin in from the other side and file the ends off the pin.
