My kudos to you as well. Theres an old saying in the mechanical trades " he is so skilled, he can weld water to wood" !!
I'm guessing you had more than enough wood welding. One of our late members, Gene Hyre, laid down a similar gauntlet on me for an old single New England shotgun.Was almost as bad, when he challenged me, he said he had fixed worse. I don't know how. But look at the lessons we learned getting here !!Great job, you definitely earned a pint or two !!!

Reminds me of a story a comedian  told back home;

That, was an unbelievable "rebuild", Richard!  I can't even begin to imagine how - and why -  you performed your magic on that wreck.  I will proclaim, if I may be so bold, that the gun was not a safe queen originally.

You took toothpicks and kindling, and turned it back into a stock.  Excellent work.

Reminds me of the bloke who went to a gunshow with 2 cartridge cases, and after wheeling and dealing came out with a nice gun...............
And another bloke who went in with a nice gun and came out with a couple of cartridge cases!     ;)

I'm working on the bore of another one, but that's a different story!

On your wood repairs, did you use traditional hide glue, epoxy, or something else?
And what did you use to color the joints at the glue lines?

No, I didn't use hide glue.  I saw no reason to go traditional, when "Traditionally" it would have been chucked on the fire. :-)

I used some epoxy  (slow setting)  and some wood glue, like Le Page or Elmers.

I used mainly Fiebing's leather dye for colour.  The late and very missed Ron Ehlert told me about the Fiebing's leather dye.  Good stuff.

Plenty of pins as well. (dowels that is.)
