Yes, this is the one in Mark Baker's article.

3X pipe is a mild steel drawn (seamless) tubing. The local welding shop has it in stock. It can be cut as nicely as iron. I had shavings up to my knees putting the flats on that barrel! Took about 20 minutes to put a flat on.
The "bore" of this pipe is pretty smooth already, so doesn't need too much fine -boring. Cuts nice as I said.

If it was .62, I'd still be boring it! LOL! But it Would be a lot lighter! Thanks cobber.

First game with it was a feral cat. always scrapping with ours. Dog treed it one night and my son John went out with me. he held the torch on cat and I let fly.
It's the first time I ever saw a cat fly out of a tree Upwards...

Only problem is that rounded heelplate;
It slides on slick surfaces. Got to watch where I lean it.
Not a problem, but you may have noticed the not quite correct stainless touchhole liner. It works. :-) A regular touchhole liner will nearly fit inside it.

"Believable" you said.
Had to think a bit, but that's what I aim at. looking a bit mellow and used, soft, round-cornered and a nice colour. Nothing new or stark.
I think this is what attracted me to Herschel's guns. They looked So Handleable if you know what I mean. Not maybe historically correct but very attractive in a not over-done sense.

That is an outstanding gun. There is lots of great detail. I am impressed that you added all that engraving and then aged it.

Great looking rifle!

I can't believe you built it in about 100hrs making most the parts and adding all the detail....shows me I've got a long way to go lol. I've actually been keeping track of my hours on my 2nd precarve and it's eye opening.

I recall when I made this one, and thinking about future "controls" I thought I'd like to see if I could make one, that way, we can never be Really disarmed, if you get my drift.

I will do my best to get some pictures taken.
I Did manage to lose the cutter-head, it was in the wood backer last time I saw it, with a piece of leather holding it in. Made from a piece of file, it was.
