Spotted Horn

The applied collar and screw tip are made of horn.  The base plug is turned from plain hard maple and pinned using wood pins.  The horn has been decorated with lead oxide spots and slightly yellowed using nitric acid.  The horn is approximately 14" long as measured around the outside curve with a base plug diameter of 2". That's really cool, Dave! I don't know much about horns- I assume the decoration is based on original details?

Dave, great looking horn and certainly worth what your asking.  And nice looking base plug with the 'wasp waist' too.  Hopefully I'll learn some more techniques at Dixon's this year.  Are you planning on attending this year?

I can't believe it's still here.  I'll take it Dave.  Email me with the total including the clamp,  I'll be sending you a clamp to convert, and I haven't sent it out yet so I'll make it one package.  That's gonna look nice with my HCH rifle, or Steve Bookout's Miss Maggie.

Dave, I got the horn, and drill fixture today.  Boy the pictures don't do it justice, It's beautiful, and will compliment my Southern rifles.  That fixture is going to work tomorrow as I install some ramrod pipes.  By the way how did you know I need some new socks.  That's a neat way to protect a horn when shipping.  Next time can you send a matching pair. ;D ;D ;D

Bill,  I think the mismatched pair of socks with the holes in the toes would look down right fitting with your bibs when you go to the chunk gun shoot at Erics next month.
