Current Project .38 Offhand Target Rifle

Figure I would post this down here since its what most flintlock shooters don't like in a muzzleloader... percussion, back action lock, heavy barrel 1 1/8 by 33 inches, small bore (.38), special English style breach, fast twist, offhand target rifle.

I have also been working on my condo so not much time to work on it... It will also get a set of vintage target sights fore and aft which I have been collecting for a few years now.

I love that style of rifle. I have a Rice .38 cal Harry Pope replica barrel with false muzzle and bullet starter that Jason made a few years back. I also have a beautiful piece of very curly European Walnut that I mortgaged the house to buy to go with it and do it justice. All I need is the time to build it. Keep us posted. Those guns are wonderful, I know Bob Roller is a fount of knowledge on them. Those guns are fun to take to the range and embarrass the local gentry shooting modern guns with scopes and so on because they can't match them for accuracy.

Not too sure about the knowledge but I have made a bunch of locks and triggers
for them but few,very few are in the USA or Canada.

Did you use the semi finished breech I sent or did I send it to someone else?

The breech I have from you is for a 1 inch barrel which will come next. I decided to to use this build to see if I could get everything to work right.
Your breach will go on a fast rifling .45 barrel.

I like it !
Depite the fact that it is a half stock , walnut ,heavy barreled ,small caliber , fast twist and even percussion . These make great off hand rifles .....but back action ?
