Pins holding the inscription plate onto bottom of butt look new to me, and original pin holes look somewhat larger than these round heads. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a reused inscription plate on a later "clunky" pistol. Shelby Gallien

In contrast to the bulk of the pistol. it seems that nicely engraved butt cap would have cost more than the entirety of the rest.
