1740s French rifled gun

On the Frontier Folk website, under the Nouvelle France section in the Bouchard book thread a fellow has posted pictures of a fine 1740s vintage French rifled gun--it looks like a typical french fusil of the period but is rifled with "multigroove rifling"--an interesting gun for those with interest in French influences on Amsrican rifle styles.

I went and took a look.  I tend to agree with MB that it may be a New England parts gun.  Would like to see how far the rifling goes into the barrel.

I just want to thank Mike,  ??? I think, for showing me another website to visit, as if I don't struggle enough already with spending too much time at the computer desk and not enough time at the work bench.
That is a nice site.  Never knew it existed.  Good discussions.  I will have to visit it periodically.
