This is not "gun building" but seems an appropriate place to post this question.
I was approached by a friend thaproblems with his Thompson Center Hawken lock. The plate is noticeable bent and rocks and rolls in the inlet. And when snugged up with the screw there is a gap between pan and barrel.
I tried a different TC lock in the mortice to be sure the inlet is all level and even and it seems so.
So, I need to try and straighten or flatten this TC lock plate.
Somehow he bent it with out it cracking. It appears to be cast material of some type? My concern is breaking it if I put the plate in a vice?
Anyone know if these are cast? Will they break or crack? I could heat it to some extent if needed but hot enough to make a difference??
Any ideas would help.
Thanks
