I was not aware Ed ever built rifles but he may have.I would call him and ask him. I am sure he would remember a left handed Shetz rifle. Nice looking rifle. It would sure help your sale to have it documented.

Yes, Ed Rayl built a good many rifles, but quit making them a good while back to concentrate on just making barrels. I have seen a couple of his rifles and have been told by others that Ed built rifles for them. The rifle you have looks like it is signed in the manner that I have seen on other rifles. Hope this helps.

That's a pretty nice looking rifle by Ed. I like it. You don't think of him as a gun builder, but I've seen a few other's he made that were pretty cool as well.

I suspect the slow sale is due to the fact that on top of being lefthanded, it is a caplock on a flintlock design. Had it been a flinter, I would have bought it when I posted the pictures for Mr. Fauquier. I talked to Ed about the rifle at the Alabama show. He built the rifle as payment for some work a man did for him. The man died in an accident before he ever got to shoot it.

I'd be all over this if it was even close to having 15 inches of pull but unfortunately this rifle, as nice as it is, would never work for me. Yes, left handers take a little bit longer to sell but there's still a market. I'll take a RH rifle that fits me well and shoot it left handed over a lefty that I can't shoot comfortably.

No, football was my game. That and swimming and I never really cared for basketball. I've got three custom made rifles and two of them have a 15" LOP with the third having a 14 7/8. They all fit me just fine and I'd rather shoot something that was made for me as opposed to trying to make myself fit the rifle.

I have seen it up close. Although it's a "lefty" as a cap lock I see no reason it cannot be fired the "correct way"
