"frank house" pattern Getz barrel
« on: September 01, 2018, 03:02:36 AM »
n 2009 I stopped at Getz Barrels in Beavertown one morning...what a treat to meet both Don and John. I had hopes of buying a barrel but knowing the demand expected to wait some time for one. Surprisingly John had a small pile of barrels which he was taking to Dixon's for the JUly fair.  They were made to a pattern supplied by Frank House and were marked as such.  I was told that the pattern was used in rifles which Frank made for the movie "Patriot".  John saved one for me and I picked it up at Dixon's when returning from Ohio a few days later along with the other parts for a rifle.   The barrel is 46 inches long in 50 caliber and I reckon is a heavy "C" profile....rifle weighs just over 9 pounds and shoots the best of any rifles I have built.  I wonder if any other members were lucky enough to get one of these barrels.
