how do i get sights on a round 44 inch barrel so that they are straight?

Place the barrel top flat down on a flat surface slide a file under the area the front sight will be attached the bright line left by the file is the center of the barrel. Hope this helps.

Use the breech plug to orientate a true round barrel. Didn't see it was round all the way. Tim

I put a bubble level on a file..put the file on the barrel perpendicular to it and drag it. Will create a fine line. Did the same on the bottom for the tennons.
