First rifle build
« on: November 12, 2018, 08:19:05 PM »
Got to do my first rifle build this last week, took a class at Colonial Homestead Artisans Guild in Millersburg Ohio, Dan Fruth was the instructor. Being the first class for kit gun building they opening for 8, the only other person to take the class couldn't make it so it was just me. This allowed for a lot more than what would normally happen at a class. Dan gave me so much information I had to take time each night and make note in a journal, I'm still writing things down so I don't forget, and things to research further. I appreciated Dan's attention to detail as he tried to teach me not just assembling a kit, but how to go a bit further with it in the details, I had a great time, this Jim Kibler Colonial rifle kit is outstanding, and Dan Fruth is a great mentor to have, I feel very fortunate for the week we had. Dan Raber owns Colonial Homestead Antiques right across the street, and has every kind of old hand tool you might need and I was able to score a set of scrappers that are fantastic. Thanks to all involved, and hope you enjoy the pics. will post more latter.

Marshal,
I have heard many people talk about the quality of Jim's kits but your pictures really drive home how precise his work is. Thanks for the pics.

I agree smokingbuck and how well he ships those kits. It looks as though you are getting things down very nicely Marsha. Good luck with the rest of your build.  :)

Thank you, couldn't be happier with the Jim Kibler kit. Dan Fruth is a great mentor to have.
