I just received my recently ordered NE Fowler kit from Chambers. It is my 2nd one. First was cherry.
This one is an up grade curly maple. It looks absolutely fabulous. Even in the box, this one looks slimmer than the first. The cherry fowler was sold to a good friend...he really wanted it, and I let it go in a moment of weakness.  This one is definitely going to be mine!

I think I'll make my own side plate for this one, rather than use the one that came with it. Reminds me too much of a "Bess" A larger plate with an engraved border should go nicely with that big lock.

Bob,

I've built two of them in cherry, 10ga.  Two of my favorite guns.  But, like you, I didn't get to keep either one.

I'm attaching a photo of the side plate treatment that I did.  A  little English tradegun influence.

Thanks for the photo Smallpatch.  I really like that.  I love these guns, since you can make such subtle changes, and alter the whole personality of the piece. The cherry gun was a 10 bore. This one is an 11.
The barrel was in stock, so I took it.   My .735 ball should work well.
