  how deep should i go for barrel tennons on an "A" profile Allentown barrel 50 cal.

Yes keep them very shallow and then take a flat chisel and bump up the dovetail areas slide the tanning in and then tap the raised area gently to secure it down.if there an ace in deep you've gone way- way too deep. That is absolutely completely unnecessary not to mention- leave the barrel wall is thick as you can.

Be very careful.  That is a SKINNY barrel.  Double check the dimensions, if too thin, solder them, or very shallow, ( 15 or 20 thou) and then solder.  Especially the one in the waist.!
I just checked Rice webpage.
As far as I can tell, it will be a "B" weight barrel.  Not "A".  Still skinny!

Regardless of what weight barrel I'm using, I go .030 deep as with Dennis and David. When selecting tennons I try to get the ones with .030 thick flat with angles.

I do mine as smallpatch said....  under .030 (more like .020) and solder... works for me.
